Our Belief
When I read news like a policeman whacked a person on the backside while they were passing by on a motorbike because the riders were not wearing helmets or hoodlums destroyed university property because they did not like the paintings of a student, my brain feels like it has been dropped in a pot of boiling water.
When I get held up on the road because a VIP wants to pass by or see a forlorn 4-year-old child with a swollen belly sitting naked on a dirty sidewalk, my teeth clench and my fists ball up of their own volition.
When I hear of a newspaper journalist who was besieged by a mob because he dared to criticize the building of a statue while millions starve, I rail against our society because our society enables it. Yes, it allows, enables and even silently encourages our politicians to be corrupt and our country to remain in tatters because disgusted though we are with it, we remain silent.
We hope to add a strong voice to this almost deafening silence. Reasoning and critical thinking will form our backbone. And while there may be much ranting, there will also be hope and optimism that the shine of India will fall on all Indians. And we will become the Proud Indian.
