About AngryIndian
What is AngryIndian about?
AngryIndian was started in May 2008 by a group of like minded people who believed strongly in the concept of “Pen is mightier than the sword”. While the initial AngryIndian.com was build as a blogger.com website, we were able to get some funds together to host it independently, with a lot of help from members of our tech team.
Who is an Angry Indian?
An Angry Indian is one who is concerned about the social and political scenario that surrounds the country we call India. An Angry Indian is angry not only angry about the issues, he is also angry at himself for his helplessness. The aim of this site is to reduce that feeling of helplessness and giving people a forum to voice their thoughts on.
Why Angry?
Anger is a good way to channel the energy that we possess. While the name does give out a negative vibe, all authors on AngryIndian will not be angry. The idea is to get the message across, so while there may be a lot of fretting and fuming, there will also be a whole lot of fun, sarcasm and satire.
So what’s the big deal? There are so many news sites out there
There is no big deal and yet there is. We’ll not report news, but opinions on news items and much more. And the opinions will be not only of the authors but the strong opinionated Indians we hope will visit the site.
Is AngryIndian a media company?
No. AngryIndian is a non-profit group, it’s a collaborative effort by a group of like minded people who believe there are other people out there who are patriotic about India and think that writing about issues surrounding India will make a difference.
Why are there ads on the site?
AngryIndian was started by individuals who are professionals in various fields like technology, editing, journalism and law. Though AngryIndian is non-profit, we would love for a time to come, where the ad revenues would support the people who support this site by giving their time, so they can quit their day jobs and do this full time.
The site theme
We have kept the theme and color schema very simple and easy to navigate through. So no flashy or bouncing images for the time being. We’re always looking for suggestions to make the user experience better. So do write in to us if you have any suggestions.
