    Bhaiyya Saves Marathi from Death

Going through the newspapers yesterday a news item struck me as a contrast with the recent anti North Indian hate campaign going on in the city of Mumbai. A young biker while travelling on a flyover in Mumbai had an accident and was literally thrown from the flyover. The accident was so severe that a metal rod went through the guy’s neck and made a not so elegant exodus from his stomach. Wow, I couldn’t even begin to imagine the pain and suffering the poor guy must have gone through. The newspaper item went on to describe that the guy survived because of his good physical condition attributed to the regular workouts he did.

What was also heart-warming, was to know that certain roadside hawkers had witnessed the accident and had rushed the boy to the hospital, thereby probably saving him from sure death. And then my eyes went on to read the name of the guy.

His name is Mayur Pokhrankar. He is a Marathi.

I then wondered who the roadside hawkers were. I wondered if it were the same bhaiyyas that Raj Thackeray so violently condemned for ruining the infrastructure of the city. North Indians have been accused, amongst other things, of hawking and encroachment. I couldn’t suppress a smile as I imagined a North Indian hawker rushing to the aid of a Marathi and taking him to the hospital. What was going through the mind of the hawker? Did he ask Mr Pokhrankar his name or his caste? I’m sure not. I’m sure his whole intention was only to save young Mayur’s life.

Human life and relationships are more sacred than any other thought and opinion. Let us reach out to one another to lend a helping hand and not with a spanking rod.

In a single act of selflessness, an uneducated roadside hawker has made us our heads bow in admiration for him and shame for our own selves.

This article was not about who has more humanity. It was just an attempt to showcase that humanity is much much above the petty issues we fight for.

I will write about Mohan Redkar if there is an Anti-Marathi movement started in UP or Bihar by any politician.

I can see the anti-North feeling is so imbibed in folks that instead of thinking about the humanity issue, Don and Nitin are ready with a “we-have-more-humanity” answer.. :-)

What sad days for this country.

And Don, so you agree Raj Thackeray should have learned some humanity from Mr Redkar?

:) Nice post. Couldn’t help but wonder why it was important to mention Mohan Redkar as some commentators did. What Redkar did was an act of glory and an act of bravery, humanity, whatever you want to call it … and it certainly is not negated by the mention of the gentleman who helped another human being in need in the listed story.

Anyone who helps anyone in need is beyond these tags of marathi, gujarati or whatever ethnicity. he/she is human. arguing over who gets the credit more is inane, and certainly not the intention of this post i think.

This shows what Humanity means to people like don and Nitin….

It shows what RAJ T has so imbibed in these ppl , that they have forgotten thier identity and are in hunt of it all the time what ever the issue ppl are discussing.

Its so unfortunate for this country, that even after gujjar kand , kashmir boil, blasts around the country , these ppl(like don n Nitin) havent realised yet what harm this RAJ T can do to MH n inturn this country as a whole.

Guys , Angry Indian didnt say that Mh’ans are not patriotic or dont have human considerations, he jus quoted something tht deserved a thought.

He just meant , MAN stoods for MAN irrepsective of caste , community ,region or religion taht too in such a chaos created by RT in the city.

I jus hope don n Nitin understand.

else …..forget it no point talking.
